This past Friday, I had the privilege of competing in a 10 mile relay race with two other Austin ExoSym patients, Lisa and Bryan. Not only was this their first race in the device, but it was also a chance for us to support a fellow ExoSym buddy, Jeff, who is battling cancer.  ♥

Here’s a breakdown of how the race went:

Leg 1: Beth (2.5 miles)

Leg 2: Bryan (2.5 miles)

Leg 3: Lisa (2.5 miles)

Leg 4: Beth (2.5 miles)

Watching Lisa and Bryan complete their first race in their devices is a memory I will never forget. To see the smiles on their faces as they crossed the finish line is something I will always remember. For Bryan, a guy who has battled through a clubfoot condition for his entire life and Lisa, a woman who has struggled with traumatic arthritis in her ankle for many years, signing up for an event like this just wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the ExoSym device. As the race came to a close, we couldn’t help but think how incredible it was for us all to be there – different walks of life, different reasons for needing the device, yet one thing in common: we are united by the ExoSym. We are one. We are Team ExoSym.

Next up: I’ll be traveling to Hawaii to visit ExoSym (IDEO) patient Dominique! Stay tuned for more adventures to come. ☺ #exosymtakesonhawaii

As you go on your way this week, I challenge you to reach out to a fellow ExoSym buddy and see what you can do to be a friend to them, encourage them, or if you live close by, maybe even try to meet up! We all have the ability to make a difference.  ♥

Stay strong everyone and never forget, we are a team. #teamexosym

  1. I am looking for other ExoSymers near me. I’m in Massachusetts.
I found it motivating and rewarding when at Hanger to be around so many others ‘just like me’.
So for anyone in Massachusetts please feel free to reach out to me, even from surrounding states.
